FlexRAID on 45Drives Machines

We have done rudimentary tests that show that Transparent FlexRaid [1] works on our Pods, here’s what we did....

On the FlexRAID website it states that the software requires CentOS 7(Kernel 3.10.0) or Ubuntu 14.04(kernel 3.13.0 or more recent).

A fresh install of CentOS 7 was used and these instructions were followed... [2]

The installation manger was used rather than a custom install.

When prompted default installation destination was selected (/opt/traid/client/)

You must then format and partition EACH disk before using the FlexRAID utility. You must also reboot after installation to get to the webGUI. You must use either “parted” or “gparted” to do this partitioning as the disk utility uses fdisk and this does not properly support gpt partition tables.

After installing the software and configuring the disks these instructions were followed (The guide is for windows but the GUI functions the same in linux) … [3]

We would appreciate any feedback and contributions from users who are using FlexRAID with our pods.

Downloaded and installed the HOST package as well as the CLIENT package located here [4].

Then installed the HOST package first (instructions are included in a README in the same zip folder) then installed the CLIENT package(A simple .exe, just run it and it will do all the work).

I then followed this setup guide… ( Also the Configuration Wizard when setting everything up in the webGUI does a good job walking you through the steps.

At this point I can verify that this software does install and work successfully with windows 7 on our machines.
